This what aesthetic am I quiz is ten questions about stuff like your bedroom and your coffee order. At the end it tells you which of five looks you lean toward: Dark Academia, Coquette, Cyber Y2K, 90s Grunge or Cottagecore. Nobody's only one, so you also get your mix, like 60% Coquette with a streak of Grunge.

My one rule for the answers: no mood-board words. Nobody in real life says "earthy tones." They say "the frog in the mushroom hat," so that's an option. You also walk away with three bios in fancy Unicode letters for Instagram or Discord.

What Are the Main Aesthetics?

My For You page says the big five are Dark Academia, Coquette, Y2K, Grunge and Cottagecore. Dark Academia's the oldest of the bunch. It grew on Tumblr in the 2010s, mostly from kids who'd read The Secret History twice and then went out and bought a tweed blazer about it. Cottagecore was spring 2020: stuck indoors, a dead sourdough starter, sheep videos at 1 a.m. Coquette's bows showed up around 2023, and for a while it felt like every girl on my feed had a satin ribbon in her hair and Lana Del Rey playing somewhere behind her. Y2K and Grunge? Reruns. One's the early-2000s mall, the other's early-90s Seattle.

All five, with their colors and their font.

Which Font Goes With Which Look

Most quizzes skip this bit. A vibe isn't just clothes. It's also the letters in your bio. Blackletter looks like a stamp from a library that smells of dust, while bubble letters look like they were drawn with a gel pen on a pencil case in 2002.

AestheticWhat it looks likeFont that fits
Dark AcademiaTweed, candles, old libraries, Latin you half rememberBlackletter (Old English)
Light AcademiaSame books, but in summer: linen, cream paper, RomeSerif italic
CoquetteBows, lace, pink, pearlsScript cursive with ୨ৎ
BalletcoreWrap tops, leg warmers, ballet flatsThin script
Cyber Y2KChrome, butterflies, flip phones, lip glossBubble letters with ★
BaddieLong nails, sharp brows, glam selfiesBold sans
90s GrungeFlannel, combat boots, smudged eyelinerStrikethrough or typewriter
Indie SleazeMessy flash photos, skinny jeans, 2008 partiesGlitchy cursed text
CottagecoreGardens, baking, prairie dressesScript with ✿
FairycoreWings, moss, glitter in the woodsTiny text with sparkles
GoblincoreFrogs, moss, a pocket full of nice rocksPlain text with 🍄
Clean GirlSlicked bun, gold hoops, lip oilSmall caps
Old MoneyCashmere, tennis whites, no logosSerif capitals
E-girlHeart decals, checkered prints, animeMixed symbols ♡

The quiz only scores the five biggest ones, because ten options per question would turn a fun one-minute thing into a personality test you'd need a snack break for. Land on Coquette but love ballet flats more than bows? You're probably Balletcore, which is Coquette's quieter cousin.

Why Everyone Has an Aesthetic Now

Blame the For You page. Watch a hundred clips of the same look in one week and it starts feeling like a club with a dress code and a playlist you're expected to know by heart by Friday. A name helps too. "I like old books and cold rain" is just a sentence. "Dark Academia" is a tag you can search and post under. It's not that deep. It's a fun way to say what you like, and then go find more of it.

How Your Result Gets Picked

Each answer counts toward one look. Ten questions, ten points to hand out. The look with the most points wins. The bars show the rest. If two tie, the one you picked last takes it, since late answers tend to be the honest ones. Hate your result? Take it again. Nobody's checking.

Make Your Bio Match

The bios on the result screen use the same Unicode tricks as the tools on this site. You don't need an app or a font file. Copy one, paste it into Instagram, done. Want to write your own? Dark Academia people should try the blackletter style in the cursive text generator, or run a line through the Old English translator so it says "thou" instead of "you."

Coquette and Cottagecore look best with little symbols wrapped around a name, which is exactly what Name to Symbols does. For everything else, the Instagram fonts generator has 25 styles that paste cleanly. Done here? The Brainrot Quiz tests how much Gen Alpha slang you actually know.
