About This Gen Alpha Translator

"my mom took my phone" went into this Gen Alpha translator and came back "mom really took my phone, i'm cooked, -1000 aura." Lowercase, no full stop, total despair. Pretty much how a sixth grader would put it.

Paste the slang in instead and it goes backwards. "she's so delulu, it's giving npc" came out as "She is completely delusional, behaving like an NPC." Handy for parents. Also for any older cousin who stopped understanding the group chat sometime around 2023.

What Do Gen Alpha Slang Words Mean?

Mostly, how cool, doomed or weird something is. Gen Alpha is roughly everyone born from 2010 on, so the oldest are in high school now and the youngest are still in diapers. Here's what the ones with phones are saying.

They sayThey mean
skibidiWeird, cool, bad, or nothing at all
rizzCharm, flirting skill
aura (+1000, -1000)How cool you look right now, scored like a video game
fanum taxTaking a bite of someone's food without asking
cookedDoomed
sigmaA cool loner type
OhioWeird, cursed (the state has done nothing wrong)
deluluDelusional, usually on purpose
moggingOutshining someone just by standing near them
glazingOver-praising someone
midAverage, kind of bad
bussinDelicious
NPCSomeone acting like a background video game character
chatTheir friends, addressed like a livestream audience
uncAn older person, anyone past about 25
6 7Nothing. Said for fun. Sometimes "so-so"

That last one has its own page: what 6 7 actually means, as far as anyone can tell.

How the Words Got Here

Most of this came out of YouTube and TikTok, not schoolyards. Skibidi is a nonsense word from Skibidi Toilet, a YouTube series about singing heads popping out of toilets that started in 2023 and pulled in billions of views. Fanum tax comes from the streamer Fanum, whose friends in the AMP crew kept joking on stream that he'd always help himself to a bite of whatever they were eating, like a little tax on every meal.

Then the grown-ups noticed. In August 2025 the Cambridge Dictionary added skibidi and delulu among roughly 6,000 new words, and said skibidi can mean cool or bad. Or nothing at all, if that's the joke. Two months later Dictionary.com picked 6-7 as its Word of the Year, while openly admitting it couldn't really define it. Wikipedia keeps a running glossary of 2020s slang, if you want to go further down the hole.

Timeline of Gen Alpha slang: 2010, the first Gen Alpha kids are born; 2023, Skibidi Toilet starts on YouTube; August 2025, Cambridge Dictionary adds skibidi and delulu; October 2025, Dictionary.com names 6-7 its Word of the Year.
Two years from a toilet cartoon to Cambridge. Quick, even by internet standards.

The Bet Problem

My first version used bet wrong. "i have a math test tomorrow and i didn't study at all" became "got a math test tomorrow, didn't study at all lol bet." That bet makes no sense. Bet means okay, deal, I agree. You don't say it about failing a test.

So I told it what each word really means, and that a kid who skipped studying is cooked. Next run, it overcorrected and stuck "bet" on the end of every line: the song was bussin, bet. Clean your room, bet. It had learned the word and fallen in love with it, like a nine-year-old who just found out about a new swear.

Fix number two: bet only when someone agrees to something, and no single word more than once per answer. Now "ok see you at the park at 5" gets "bet, see u at the park at 5," which is the one place it belongs.

There was one more. "bro got fanum taxed" translated backwards as "my brother had his lunch taken." Bro is a friend, or just a guy. That line's in the prompt now as well.

A Few More Runs

  1. my friend took some of my fries without asking → my friend fanum taxed my fries, no ask.
  2. that pizza was amazing → that pizza was bussin, no cap, it's giving main character vibes
  3. he thinks he's so cool but he's not → he's lowkey thinkin he's sigma, but nah, he's mid.
  4. ngl his aura is crazy, he mogged everyone → Honestly, his presence is impressive; he outshone everyone.

Words It Won't Use

Some Gen Alpha slang is fine. Some of it isn't something I'd put in front of a twelve-year-old, and a few popular terms have meanings their users don't fully know. So those are blocked outright, and gyatt only ever shows up as a plain "wow." Insults about real people are off too. The aim is a laugh at the family dinner table, not a call from the school.

For the generation just above, the Gen Z Brainrot Translator does slay, no cap and it's giving. The Boomer Translator is the opposite end, all ellipses and Love, Mom. Every other voice is on the translators page.

Stuff Parents Ask

What does skibidi mean? Nothing fixed. My test runs used it for an exciting weekend and for a brand-new haircut, both in the same afternoon. Cambridge shrugs too, more or less.

What does fanum tax mean? Stealing a bite. A friend grabs a chip off your kid's plate? Fanum tax. Expect it reported at dinner like a crime (the chip is never coming back).

What's the difference between Gen Alpha and Gen Z slang? The new words. Slay and no cap are hand-me-downs from older siblings. Skibidi, aura and Ohio are the new stuff, and a 22-year-old saying them gets called unc.

Is any of it rude? A few words are, and the tool won't use them. Skibidi, rizz and aura are harmless, more silly than anything.

What does rizz mean? Charm. Short for charisma, the flirting kind. A kid with rizz gets a text back within the minute, and a kid without it gets left on read for the whole weekend while everyone else in the group chat watches.

Why do kids keep saying 6 7? To watch you ask that. Honestly, that's most of the point.
